I first met Larry in 2008 at the time he was selling his tools and moving back to Seattle area after his wife's passing. Specifically I bought his lathe, which was a good Homier lathe but fully priced - there was no price haggling with him. He said it was in excellent shape (and it was) and that he had some "other stuff" to go with it. We went down to pick up the machine and Larry comes out with a dolly filled with a micro mill and with boxes of the stuff from his garage I suppose. At the next Cocoa Beach event he brought still more boxes of tools and measuring devices. I sent him some pix of the machines set up in my shop, but he didn't seem interested in continuing dialogue on that subject into 2009. I remember his telling me his motto: "A good machinist can make anything on any machine". He had made a bunch of "gizmos" during his career and seemed amused I couldn't guess their function. Larry was one-of-a-kind, but his tools at least have a good, climate controlled home. May he rest in peace.
