Our bass reflex works well or one of our high bass speakers will work.  Yes,
lots of room for speakers in most S scale units.  I usually recommend
pointing the speaker down and not up, you usually get better sound.  

One point to remember, is that sound is subjective.  Need to check the sound
on your layout and not on the workbench.  The acoustics of the layout and
room are usually much different that the workbench area.  Also adjust the
sound for yourself, if up sounds better than go that way, if down sounds
better.  You get the picture.
