I can sympathise with Wally. I have had glaucoma for a least 9 years. It went
bonkers last summer in spite of constant treatment. The DR got theleft eye
pressure back down, but the right eye pressure would not go down. I had surgery
on the right eye 7 weeks ago (a hole with a flap) Have now 80% sight back and
its getting better. No modeling or driving though.
Got back into S Traction last year. Will do that now. Sold all my S brass and
will be getting rid of other S stuff
Wally must have had a poor DR. It is controllable. This operation was $16,000.
You stay active.

Without going into a lot of detail ..
Wally has lost most of his sight to Glaucoma. He can no longer see to model
railroad and is in his 80's. He will be selling his home and will be sharing
his time with his children, mostly with his daughter and family in Illinois.
This was a tough decision for Wally to make, as he loves model railroading
and modeling in S scale. Over the past 50 years he amassed much in our scale
and has now given, sold or has had Jeff Wilson take it away for sale on
consignment. His home harbored a history of S most have never seen. For you
collectors out there, it would be to your benefit to check out Jeff Wilsons
list.
Wally was an excellent modeler until he lost his sight, his workmanship was
at the highest level, his Midland Pacific Scale model railroad with all his
hand laid track and switches was something to behold and those big brass
engines ran well on it. Wally did keep some of his favorites.
To know Wally is to love him, he is generous without fault and he will try to
keep in touch with us all, best he can.
Happy Easter!
Sincerely,
Bill Fraley
