Gentlemen...
The 2011 joint NASG/NMRA annual convention in Sacramento, California is explained in detail at: http://www.x2011west.org/nasg.html The time is almost here when the X2011W online shopping cart will become available for ordering hotel rooms, tours, banquet tickets, S convention cars, and so forth. I expect to see some activity in this area within a week or two. So keep your eyes peeled. You might want to sign up for an RSS FEED which will automatically send you email announcements of news and/or changes on the web site. The opportunity to sign up for various events will be offered in batches via email so that early registrants will get first crack at signing up for activities. The first batch of emails will be sent to those who registered prior to the NMRA convention in Hartford in 2009. After a short time, similar emails will be sent to those who registered between the Hartford and Milwaukee NMRA convention in 2010. The next batch of emails will be sent to those who registered after the Milwaukee convention this past summer. Thus the early birds will now get their reward for registering early. This would be a good time to check with the X2011W web site to make sure they have your correct email address. If the email address on file with them is incorrect, you might not be notified of the opportunity to sign up for tours, etc. With the online shopping cart system, your credit card will be needed. If you prefer to mail in a check instead of using a credit card, you can do so (to the Registrar) but keep in mind that an event or product might become sold out while your check is in transit. Using the online system assures you that you will get what you order without fail. If an event is already sold out, the online shopping cart will not allow you to purchase a ticket. Acting promptly using the online system is the easiest and best way to sign up for all the activities you really want. For folks enthused about S, the NASG banquet will be a very special event designed just for us. It will be held in the roundhouse of the California State Railroad Museum (CSRM) in the evening after the general public has departed. A musical revue performance orchestrated by the Hubba-Hubba organization of San Francisco will follow dinner. If music and comedy are not your thing, you are free to wander among museum exhibits during the show without the hassle of large crowds. An intimate visit with your favorite steam locomotive is possible. The NASG Roundhouse Revue and BBQ Too! should be a memorable event for everyone. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Every nickel, too! You may buy NASG banquet tickets for your wife and/or children and/or friends even if they have not registered for the X2011W convention. It is possible for one convention registrant (you!) to purchase several tickets for your immediate family and good friends. Simply specify the quantity you want when signing up via the online shopping cart. See you in "S"acto..
