Hi all;
I received a package today ordered from Jeff Wilson of Hoquat Hobbies.
It contained the pair of Studebaker trucks from M2's Autothentics Release 14, a
1949 2R pickup and a 1954 3R Tow Truck. Both are nicely done with excellent
paint. Good points on the models include body color on the wheels (instead of
all chrome) as well as on the center of the chrome bumper. Clear headlight
lenses. The under body appears to be black (unlike some models which have
chrome plating there. There is a tow pintal and license plate holder on the
back of the pickup, the tow truck has correct dual rear wheels. The tiny
printed "Studebaker" is readable on the sides and front of the hood!
Minor negatives are the lack of side view mirrors (only the early Racing
Champions Mint Editions cars had these), and the floor of the pickup bed is
just below the edges of the box! The truck will require a load or tarp to hide
the floor. The cable on the tow truck is a bit too stiff and needs to be
straightened.
For scale, the pickup has a wheelbase of 9 ft 6 in and width over the wheels is
6 ft 6 in. The Tow Truck has the same width and 10 ft 6 in wheelbase.
Jeff gave an excellent price and service on these models, and I can recommend
him if are looking for these models. Next up is M2 Release 15, which includes a
1950 Studebaker pickup with snow plow (could'a used one today!), a 1956 Ford
with a stake bed and two versions of 1958 Chevy tractors to haul your SHS or
AHL trailers! None of this is listed on Jeff's web site yet, but email him and
I'm sure he will be able to set you up!
