We have not been in our house for 2 years yet. The basement faired very well during the move. It was largely still very open for the rest of 2009. I had delusions that along with the MANY other remodeling things we did in the first 6 months (new roof, heater, A/C) I could get the basement finished too. (The Pink Panther basement system is amazingly expensive!) That ship has sailed. About ½ of the basement has fiber ceiling tiles and paneling that has been painted. Included with the house were a significant supply of tiles that might be enough to finish the ceiling. Once the layout gets set in place some things are going under it, and possibly inside the loop for storage.
