It was in November 2007, when I ordered from a favorite vendor, S scale RR
crossing signals made by NJ Internationals and the circuit boards to operate
them from TDP, inc.

These signals are very realistic, in scale. For those on the TTML who run O
gauge, they have these in O scale too.

They work on light sensors that you put in the ballast or just the table. You
can not see the sensors.

I spent over 500 on these, as I have two sets of signals with crossing gates,
one at a single track and one at a dual track, as you need one more circuit
board in addition to the first board and a second set of sensors for 2 track
operation.

I got them all on the layout and the sensors in the track.

Then you have to first program the lights to blink, then you program the ones
with arms to have the servo’s go up and down for the rod connected to the gate.

So, I attempted to set the lights to blink and I could not get anything to work.

I emailed TDP as I was working with Paul on of the partners of TDP. He was
very helpful, as I could still not get them to blink.

I told him I had fluorescent lighting and he said that was the problem, so he
mailed me special light sensors and still it could not work.

So, I ended up mailing him all the lights and circuit boards, so he could set
them for me.

I got them back and sit they did not work.

So he said I probably needed a regular type of light in the room to “warm” up
the lighting and that worked.

Now to set the servos.

I could not get it.

I think I sent them back 3 times for him to look at.

Granted, months went by as I was working on buildings and other things. I
finished my last building this summer, so it was time again to work on these
things.

Paul spent allot of time with me via emails, writing over and over
instructions, as it turned out I was doing one extra step not written to do, as
that was stopping the whole process.

FINALLY, I got both set of servo’s to work!

They are wonderful, I highly recommend them for any layout, as NJI has many
other things for your layout.

But one thing happen to the last signal with crossing arm, the rod came out, as
you can not get it back on.

NJI exchanged it with no problems, as I did buy this over 2 years ago and
Christopher said he will stand behind any signal that has a problem.

So my whole point of this is to let you know that Paul of TDP and Christopher
of NJI take care of their customers, as I probably drove Paul nuts for two
years.

I wonder if he will miss my emails! Just kidding.

The signals are very easy to program, you just have to really read it!
