Not being local to the Bay Area, I've got a few questions about the Cable Car
scene in the 1996 movie The Rock. The car shown carries the number 49, and is
painted in California colours and signage, yet, the body of the car is a Powell
car. I believe 49, at that time, had been withdrawn/laid up. Was the front of
this car grafted on to a Powell car (if so , which one). Any details of this
'prop' appreciated.
Secondly, where were the scenes shot? Looks like Hyde to me, possibly the
connection to California. Am I right?
