Hi Guys: My FNF tonight consisted of installing the final short piece of connector track to complete the track work on the Port Dover side of the layout. All six sections (28 feet in all) are now in place and together for the first time since I started building 5 years ago. The first 12 feet of layout consists of three 4-foot sections, which form Port Dover Harbour. The next 6-foot section is Culverhouse Cannery. Both the harbour and cannery are Free-Mo modules which travel to train shows as part of the S scale Workshop’s layout. Tonight’s hook up was to two new 4-foot sections which will comprise the Lake Erie and Northern station and interchange with the CN in Port Dover. So I now have a 28 foot, basically scenicked, and fully operable switching layout which I’m going to play with, and build upon, before I lay any track further around the room. My other news this week is the purchase of a new Canon SLR style digital camera, which I’m learning to use. Perhaps I can then share some photos in the future.
For your Friday night viewing pleasure, crank up the sound! Hi-def footage of 6 EMD 567-motored units running at notch-8 and still stalling their grain train on a 2 percent grade. Not in the U.S., not in Canada, or even Mexico, but in Victoria, Australia. The vintage units, a single-end C-C Bulldog, a double-ended C-C Bulldog and four “T” class 900 HP EMDs were leased from a rail museum by El Zorro to help handle the annual Grain rush. This video is a rush. Enjoy! Jim "Old EMD's, epic struggle and stall: Australian train." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBvfJvFVE-Y&feature=related ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
