Gavin,

 

To "cut to the chase" for whatever the A M Amtrak cars are or are not, they
are likely to be the only incarnation of Amtrak cars you will ever see
unless you want to scratchbuild them. Even the later "Budd" style cars are
unfortunately about 10 feet too short. I only got 1 coach because other than
the length issue it was a pretty nice car.

 

IIRC I had the job of body mounting Kadee couplers to a Amtrak set years
ago. It was a real P I T A. The floors in the coupler area are massively
high and very thick spacer pads have to be used especially on the engine.
