Colin, Thanks for asking. No, it will not be a kit, much less a flat kit like the GP7 conversion. It will be a complete locomotive, composed of components not unlike a current Intermountain or Athearn Genesis offerings. The carbody itself consists of a long hood, cab, nose and deck. The photos that my very, very good friend Don Thompson posted show these except the nose. The nose mold was recently completed and will be added to the samples.
I think only one person other than myself has seen the nose and that is Greg Elams. Greg has been a tremendous help to our moldmaker in the development of many of the details. My hats off to Greg for keeping quiet on this until the carbody was substantially done and we had something to share. The astute will notice that a good number of the components are common to many second generation GPs and SDs. My GP35s have already been recabbed and will both get nose jobs shortly.
