I used to have an S gauge gondola in which I had installed a piece of HO track
from end to end with the center held down a little, so that a steel ball placed
at any point on that track would roll to the center. Then there were contact
switches at each end, a battery, and a buzzer. If the car started or stopped
too fast, the ball would roll to an end and set off the buzzer.

I was reminded of that car (it's around here somewhere) when I saw this video,
forwarded via the railroadvehicles yahoo group.
