Hi Walt, It depends on how tight the curve radius is. At some point model
curves become so tight that a curved frog is necessary but for normal radius
switches a straight frog is better even if the switch is curved. The trick is
knowing how long to make the straight segment leading into and out of the frog,
it has to be a bit longer than the wheelbase of the trucks that will run thru
it.The goal is for the wheels of the truck to be running on straight rail
before they hit the frog, when done properly the cars don't know if they are on
a curve or a straight switch so they roll quietly right thru, no guard rails
even necessary on a properly constructed switch....dave
