I've been noticing more and more of the mainstream manufacturers are not
stating "1:64" on their packaging. Sometimes, you can look at other
series/versions to find out, other times, that particular model was never
labeled as 1:64. None are ready to use right out of the box, unless they're in
front of a car dealership or car wash. I use superfine emery cloth or even
fresh green scrubbies from pots&pans to dull the finish. Anyways, I've been
wondering if anyone knows if these 1:64 die cast vehicles are really 1:64. Last
thing I want to do is go to car shows with a measuring tape, try and sneak by
the owners, and measure their rides. I wouldn't want some stranger with a metal
tape measure anywhere near my $4,000 paint job and rechromed bumpers.

And I hate asking for something without offering something, so here's a tip.
I use Hartoy AHL (American Highway Legends) trucks on my layout. Not the best
out there, but a good starting point. It's easy enough to go to 1/64 diecast
truck stores online, or even ebay, to buy add on details like mirrors,
smokestacks, tires, rims, door handles, and sometimes even hood ornaments to
kick it up a notch. And the trailers are easy enough to paint over too. Get
yourself some inkjet decal paper and throw on some local stores of yesteryear
for that personal touch. Anyone needs more info on this, I'd be glad to help.
Info on scale busses from 1930 thru 1960 would be nice, if anyone knows where
to get them or who makes them. I've given up looking and am planning on making
a fleet of 1950's Wayne coaches, just because there's nothing out there in
1:64. I'm not big on posting, but leave an email and I'll keep you updated.
  Cheers
