Hi All,

Yesterday we spent a wonderful day at the Stafford Convention Center
here in Texas running, displaying, and selling train stuff. The Houston
S Gaugers set up a 16' by 22' layout, right at the front of the show
entrance. We had a fantastic turn-out. The show ran from 10am to 5pm,
but by about 4p the crowds had gone.

This was also the public debut of my recently completed PRR RS-1 engine.
The engine ran for about 6 hours without any problems. The rear truck
derailed at this one spot the first three or four times around the
layout. I think that was due to the stiffness of the wires picking up
power from the rear truck. As they got worn in, the problem went away.
For the last hour I ran the engine backwards to really work in the
gearing. The North Yard chassis performed flawlessly. No parts broke off
of the body, and transporting the engine back and forth left it
unscathed. I didn't turn up the volume of the sound decoder loud enough,
so people had to get up close to be able to hear it. That's a lesson
learned for the next show.

I took some photos and one video and posted them on the Houston S
Gaugers web site. To view them, go to:

then click on "Events", then click on the first entry under "Past
Events". The video is at the bottom of the page.

Enjoy,
  - Peter.
