Seriously, I wish the AF guys all the fun in the world playing with
their toy of choice and trying to maintain AC Gilbert's legacy in the
vintage toy/train collecting world but, it's got nothing to do with me
and I couldn't care less about it. Nor do I want to see it, hear it,
smell it or discuss it on the S Scale group. John Armstrong asked how
many of us are under 60 the other day. Well John, I'm 50 years your
junior so consider me the tail wagging the S Scale dog. Forget
succumbing to negative group think. The future of S is what we make
of it. I don't feel like I owe a debt of gratitude to or have to
humor the AF guys or anyone else. I see 1:64th scale modeling as
entirely separate from and moving in a totally different direction
than vintage train collectors/operators. Our motto back in my SeaBee
days was "Can Do" (well there was that "We Build, We Fight" part but
it may not pertain to this discussion.) S scale "Can Do". We just
have to get out there and do it - make our own future.
