Tom, I have a good friend who used to design tank cars for Richmond and 
then Trinity.  I expect to photograph some of his models shortly, so 
I'll ask him.

My personal feelings are that any liquid sound effects while running 
would be minor.  If much movement occurred the combined weight of the 
liquid would shove any train down the track for a long time during 
breaking.

Another case in point is the filling of the tender with water sounds--at 
our age the sound of water running isn't always a good thing!
