Earl,
I agree to paint every exposed surface of homosote. I use spline with blocks to
space the spline apart so on the bottom of the homosote I coat with Elmers
glue. I then block sand the sub road bed flat.I paint the spline and homosote
with cheap earth color latex paint. The one thing I do notice is the paint
makes hand laying just a little harder to penetrate with very fine wire spikes.
