With my layout (S-Gauge) I too also spend a large percentage of time fixing
engines, rolling stock, and accessories. I have next to no scenery but I
want to make the layout look more realistic. I would prefer to run trains
on the layout but all the maintenance detracts from that. I do enjoy the
maintenance but would like to spend more time with operating.
I have tired of my current layout ( 8X12 with two levels) and want to
improve it with scenery and a better flow of the rail traffic. My layout is
almost all track and no room for buildings, or activities etc.
I am currently in a planning phase to rebuild a bigger and better layout
(9X27with 2 or 3 levels) with better access to operating trains. I need
help in the planning to improve the operations side and how to integrate the
scenery.
