I've used Bragdon powders and like them, worth the money. There are also
"knockoffs" such as Micro-Mark carries and for all I know they might be made by
Bragdon.
In the past I used to use pastel's mostly just white and black and various
degrees of mix of the two. I had found that by using a dampened brush to apply
the "chalks" that they would stick much the same as the Bragdons do, once
completely dry, pretty resistant to handling too.
I always scraped the sticks to get a small pile to dip the damp brush into.
The best thing about this is you almost can't screw up, too much
weathering....use the dampened brush without the powder then streak it, or wad
up some paper towels, dampen, and using tweezers wipe it down. Biggest problem
with either material is the difficulty of getting into hopper slope sheets etc.
With any weathering try to consider nature and its effects. Just slathering on
powder helter skelter doesn't cut it.
