All,

I have already sent some to the following to John directly earlier this
morning. Perhaps some of it is worthy of repeating.

As an individual, gang of 100, gang of 6, Bud Buddies or however you want to
label it, there certainly is something to be said about leaving your mark
however small on the scale by making something not previously offered. It is
the method and determination of the individuals involved that make the
project worthwhile and hopefully see it through to the point of actually
shipping that item. When the driving force which by far is usually one
person tries and it does not happen the perceived failure is taken as
theirs.

I can completely identify with the drive to leave your mark - be it a
company name or your own name on a box that is something train related. I
have done it to varying degrees of success and have proven it CAN be done
even now with the current funk we are in with the passenger car roof
project.

I can fully understand how John feels. He was passionate about wanting that
car. His SAL car was the X29 to me years ago. But the cottage companies and
small projects should and will go on.

I only ask that WE as a group don't grind on for days about the "death of S
Scale" **again** especially over one car. No crocodile tears here. I am
making a new layout. I am good. Please be ***constantly cognizant*** of the
newbies here. No need to give them reason to second guess their curiosity
about S or worse make them change their minds and head elsewhere.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
