The number one extra detail I keep looking for is a realistic passenger car diaphram. The partial diaphram that AM makes is OK but I want to full diaphram so there is no light between the coupled passenger cars and the cars do not derail. . - Earl Henry In a message dated 4/14/2011 10:18:38 A.M. ...and speaking of air hoses, Has anyone tried using the new rubber versions now being sold by PBL? It seems like the flexibility of rubber would be great for operations, but I'm wondering about whether paint will stay on them. It would seem that somebody could come up with a series of detail kits for upgrading many of our products. For instance John had mentioned the lack of rodding to the trucks on SHS, while Dick has mentioned the shallow steps and bolsters. Many years ago I worked on many of the AM boxcar/reefer kits to make them 'much closer'. Even the PRS cars eventually get some damage to the grabs and under-body piping. Additionally all these cars are lacking cut levers, and most lack air hoses. I could see marketing a kit for each style car. With the high cost of shipping an entire kit would solve ordering stuff from several suppliers. I'm sure somebody will come up and say that there's no market--well I've built 20+ PRS reefers, probably that many boxcars, plus again as many SHS cars that could have used upgrades. Every time I think about adding those details, I cringe at that massive effort that could have happened when I built them.
