I actually had a bit of productive progress with some of my projects.
I've continued to work on my Gp 30's. I've reassembled the chassis,
gearboxs and motors only to discover that the rubber tubing connecting
the motor to the gearbox no longer has the grip to hold. So I need to
search out some new tubing or go with some NWSL connections. If I do
the latter, I'll need to cut off some of the shafts, which means I have
to disassemble most of what I've done! Not fun!

I also dug up a project that I've had going on for some time also.
Pieter, sometime during the weekend, linked to a number of boxcar
shots. Some were SOO line examples, one in particular featured a very
unusual outside braced, single sheathed boxcar with a fairly large metal
door. It's not a match for the SHS car but I loved the weathering so
much on that particular car that I tried to come as close as possible
trying some new techniques and materials. I used some ancient Enhorning
Decals plus some dimensional data from the old G & W set. There is no
comparison between the quality of the two brands. So I decided to
weather some of the lettering more than the rest indicating that the car
had been re-stenciled at a later time. I'll post some shots tomorrow
after I shoot the results tonite--darn photographer never has his camera
handy!

I also needed to crank out a mess of trees for my little tree selling
business. It's really a three session thing to get the final results.
With mostly favorable weather I was able to make it in two sessions,
finishing up last night. During that time I had to reset some trains
that I used in my video work of last week. In doing both the video and
the re-staging of those trains, I discovered some track cleaning is in
order. So that will happen tonite when I do the photo of the SOO line
car. After that some additional work on two cabooses is in order.
