What some are missing is a >> very important point<< in Jim Kings posts. It is 80 full retail kits sold to make the boxcar a go. If 30 cars are sold to dealers that does **not** make the magic number needed 50! It is still 80!
In its simplest form Jim has to sell 80 kits directly to the buyers at full price to make this happen. That is the "only thing" that counts. I have to admit it has been a while since the list has ground on for this length of time on a subject that was pretty much fully on topic. If we only could charge by the keystroke we could hire Jim directly 24/7/365 to make S Scale exclusively! If this is the effort needed to get something new made now on a low production scale we are truly doomed. You really can't count total group membership because there is an unknown number of dead IDs and truly dead people. The truer market set would be from the sporadic to active posters on the list which can't be 100 people. You can possibly include some lurkers but not many IMHO. I >>really wish<< we could move on to other subjects, so here is 1 A friend and I put down some new track yesterday for the first time. We started with a SHS rail #6 turnout and installed the downgrade ramp to the code 100 area. At the last minute we changed from using white glue to spiking the track down. I am considering it to be permanent even though it is currently easily moved. The SHS flex track has a center web that I drilled and we spiked it there.
