All of the SAL B-7 rersponses can be grouped into three categories:
1. I'll buy one (or more) now.
2. I'll send money between now at the drop-dead date.
3. I don't want the car.
Most of you who don't want the car could have just remained mum. We don't need
to know why (too much detail, too expensive, too complex, not
hirail-compatible,
all boxcars look alike...). All the vendor cares about are the 1 and 2
categories. The constructive "no interest" responses were those that suggested
yet a different car, or that brought up related topics like prototype
interchange pratices and how to modify scale offerings to be hirail-compatible.
Some of the category 3 responses are so "out there" as to make one wonder about
the sender. Some of our discussions have been rejected by their instigators
as,
well, silly. We should all keep in mind that these discussions are learning
opportunities. Simply dismissing reasoned conclusions by knowledgeable
modelers
is -- simply -- insulting.
