Ok, folks... I just got this news TODAY... about 5 minutes ago to be exact,
from Frank Sergent, himself.
... and I quote verbatim...
"S scale couplers will probably be available this year."
Apologies for all multi-list cross-posting... I just thought everyone should
know.

I guess this means I gotta get back to work on my near-scale draft gear boxes...
