This week at SHS…I picked up our latest shipment from Hong Kong last
week. We again have our #3 manual switches. We also received a
limited number of remote control switches. They finally agreed to
retest these before we would accept another shipment. We still have
the bulk of remote control switches in Hong Kong and should be getting
more in the next few weeks. These can be ordered online at:

Open House… This years SHS Open House will be one day only, Friday
June 3rd from 11 AM to 5 PM. As usual, we will be offering some great
specials! Robin will be running the famous scratch & dent sale, Don
will be on hand to answer questions, Mike will be manning the barbecue
grill. Please make plans to attend one or both days to meet the SHS
crew, and find some bargains. It is a free and fun day out! We even
erect tents in case of rain. Directions can be found on our home page.

2010 Christmas Car – It is now obvious to both Mike and I that Sanda
Kan will not be making our Beth. steel 2 bay open top hoppers. We
received the final operating sample for the hoppers with a very
cryptic note about the painted samples for all the other roadnames.
It was not until after Chinese New Year before they made clear that
our next builder would be making these cars for us. We thought this
meant that they would release the tooling for this one car as the
moldings had been paid in full in December. But, that is not the
case. I guess this will be our first project with our new builder
(who we have not chosen…).
Starter Set Sale… We have had many requests for starter sets over the
last year, but have not been able to fill as we have sold out of our
20” radius curved track. Robin felt it was time to offer our sets
without track and transformer (this is a first for us…). We are now
shipping 4, 5 or 6 car switcher starter sets in our set boxes. These
can be purchased without track or transformer. We do have an option
to include the ART-5400 AC/DC transformers we have used in the past.
These are priced to sell with the 4 car set almost 40% off of the MSRP
for individually priced items. Check our sets out at:

DCC Upgrades…Bill Moitz is still busy this DCC upgrades of our past
products. We can install DCC Tsunami sound decoders in our classic
SW9 switchers. We add a 1.1” high base sell baffled speaker. This
fits perfectly and it is as loud as our F units. Although installing
DCC sound in our SW1s is possible, we are unable to do this because of
the time needed to fit the baffle for the speaker. But, we are more
than happy to help with information on how we did our own SW1s.

2-8-0 Status Update…We have sold out of code 110 2-8-0 steam engines.
We still have a few of the AF comp. with several roadnames and
roadnumbers being sold out. We do have the DCC Tsunami sound version
back in stock
