Alex & All,
I am not an expert here by far. But I have a fair collection of PRR builders photos of containers. Some are even of the containers under construction. Given there is only a hatch on the top (as opposed to opening doors on any side) on the one I am producing and on the builders photos that show a steeply sloped bottom and a hatch I can say they are for powders of some sort. The capacity is 8 tons. I will consider asking a friend that makes decals if he would make them in S Scale for these containers if there is interest. He already offers decals in HO for many related items. They would BE PRR though.. Again not being overly knowledgeable I do not pr if PRR containers were carried in other road's cars. Here is a container that I have a very large PRR drawing for. http://www.lanestrains.com/F31.jpg This is my preferred container to have by far. It is rather complex to make. I have thought about making them previously. The last time I was through Harrisburg on Amtrak 4 years ago I was surprised to still see a few of them in the yard as maintenance storage lockers. But the usability would be greatly increased if there was an F31 or a better FM http://www.lanestrains.com/FM.jpg then the problematic 15+ year old F&C kit that exists. The possibilities with these containers is almost as endless as on the prototype. You could have a transfer crane, a few cars and waiting trucks in a 2 feet square space. http://www.lanestrains.com/G22b.jpg I am closer but not at my minimum order quantity yet. It could happen today with some of YOUR support - in hopefully less than 300 emails! Lets Git Er Dun!
