Bud, Right!. One possibility is that Bob McCarty has discussed the possibility of creating a laser-cut wood kit. He would like to do the 70-ton covered hopper with the see-through center section first. If that actually can be done successfully, then perhaps a Milwaukee Road horizontally-ribbed car as well.
You know it's a mystery to me that we have not seen more interest. In HO several outfits have attempted the car, and they seem to sell. Well, factor in the bad economy that puts non-essential purchases into a sometime in the future possibility. Still, a laser-cut kit would be something i could go for. Tom, I don't have my actual commitment count handy, but in discussions with Jim King, he basically said, irrespective of interest, he would no longer consider doing the Milw. ribside car as an "S only" project. He would have to also need to have the car done in HO to make it worth his while. As so many others already exist in HO, there's virtually no chance of a SMMW kit in S. Too bad actually, I feel this car is as unique as the M53, and the B-7. Still entertaining other possibilities, but taking on this venture was not in my plans. I merely was enlisted as a "volunteer" to solicit interest in this project. If you remember, this car was at one time on the list of potentials from SMMW.
