Just wanted to toss in that after operating on a DCC layout with dead frogs I 
went that route.  No under the table electrical work or jiggling with throwbar 
distances.  No large gaps at the points, no worry over back to back spacing of 
the wheels electrically, mechanically yes, but not electrically.
  I believe this works nowadays because all of my decoders have "keep alive" 
capacitors.  I've had no loss of sound because of even long dead frog 
distances. Ymmv.
