I just obtained a .pdf copy of a PRR document (24 page booklet) describing the
PRR Telephone system as of 1925. There is somne very intereting historical
information in it like in 1877, Alexander Grahm Bell sent two representatives
to Altoona to conduct telephone trails in the shops there. Use of telephones
followed immediaely. Also, the PRR was the first railroad to make use of the
telephone, and as of 1925, the PRR owned and operated the largest private
telephone and telegraph plant int the world.
Wow, this is news to me at least!
The document title is "The Wire System of a Great Railroad" issued by the
General Offices in Philadelphia.
I am just wondering if this is a know document (and I'm just finding out about
it)? Anybody know of this???
