Is the "Nonquet" a choice or does it replace the traditional banquet?

After receiving several emails similar to the one above, I thought it might
be worthwhile to explain these two events - a traditional banquet and the
non-quet. Hopefully this explanation will clear up some confusion for all
of us.

I. First the banquet, which is named "ROUNDHOUSE REVUE AND BBQ Too!"

This event is co-hosted by THE S SCALE SIG of the NMRA and the NASG (Nat'l.
Assn. of S Gaugers). It is being held inside the roundhouse of the
California State Railroad Museum on Saturday evening from 5:30-11:00 pm.
This event is open to ALL registrants of the X2011 convention and we invite
you to join us. Yes, you can bring your wife, children, girlfriend,
relatives, neighbors, etc. without restrictions. One X2011 registrant can
simply buy enough tickets for those he wishes to bring along. Click here
for details:

Our banquet meal is a Texas-style western BBQ provided by an award-winning
catering company which is ranked "First in Sacramento County" year after
year by the local culinary magazines and newspaper columnists. Featured are
briskets, ribs, chicken and salads. A no-host bar will be available for the
thirsty.

After dinner, we will be moving into the Museum Theatre for a professional
performance by the Hubba-Hubba organization which is based in San Francisco.
This musical and comedy revue will be a family-oriented performance rather
than the usual burlesque for which Hubba-Hubba is famous. Worthy of note,
Hubba-Hubba has been ranked as one of the top ten burlesque shows in the
world in direct competition with organizations based in Paris and London.
The Hubba-Hubba girls have recently concluded performances in Las Vegas and
have just returned to their San Francisco home town.

Acts for this revue will include the following:

Sister Kate -- Wendy, Sarah & Ashley are San Francisco's own Cabaret
Gypsies. With a wink & a smile, this trio of shimmying beauties combine
burlesque & belly dance to create unforgettable acts guaranteed to tantalize
& mesmerize!

Room for Cream -- From far-off Sonomastan, and the shores of Old Eastbania,
Jodi Waseca & J.D. Limelight captivate with laughs, music & dance. Don't be
scared if a wild gorilla shows up, he's just there to play the accordion.

McPuzo & Trotsky -- All the way from 1921, come these Troubadours for
Troubled Times! Armed with an arsenal of timely tunes (hits like "Warren G.
Harding is a Horse's Ass" & "Beef for India!") McPuzo & Trotsky are living
proof that the banjo can indeed be used for Good!

Conductor Kingfish, your Master of Ceremonies & Tour-Guide to Entertainment!

Zip the What-Is-It? Hairy Beast-Man --and loyal stagehand!-- from Barnum's
Own Menagerie!

...plus in the wings, Long-Suffering & Stalwart Stage-Manager, Comrade Tang!

There will be ample time to roam the California State Railroad Museum and
see the exhibits. No need to miss a clinic or tour to spend time savoring
your favorite locomotive without the hassle of long lines and crowds. Yes,
there will be numerous costumed docents available to answer your questions
and to explain the purpose of each control in the cab of SP's cab forward
steam locomotive. You can count rivets, check the wheel gauge and look for
decal film on the tender's lettering to your heart's delight. This is truly
the best time for an intimate personal visit with your favorite engine or
car.

Afterwards, the annual NASG announcements and award presentations will be
made. Next year's NASG convention in Chattanooga, TN will be previewed.
Non-S modelers are invited to stay for this meeting or they can roam the
museum exhibits if they prefer.

II. Now for the "Nonquet" which is explained here in some detail:

I think potential confusion stems from the scheduling of these two events
which are both being held on Saturday evening. One is in the Sacramento
Convention Center and the other is in the roundhouse of the California State
Railroad Museum. Thus, it will be difficult to attend both events due to
travel time and overlapping of event timing. We will have to choose one or
the other.

As usual, if you have any questions pertaining to the ROUNDHOUSE REVUE AND
BBQ TOO!, please feel free to contact me at: Loizeaux "at" SBCGlobal.net
As of now, there are only about 30 seats remaining for the banquet. First
come, first serve. Seating is limited by space availability in the
roundhouse due to all the engines and cars.

Thanks for listening...
