I think the Walther's bridge that Rieter is referring to he saw on
my layout. I have two bridges. One was built at the actual kit
length of 15" but, offset for a slight curve and the other built from
two kits to fill a 22" span. The stringers that support the track
were staggered to get length and make the structure more rigid.
The big change to increase the clearance from 3" above rail top,
I use code 100 rail by the way, to 3.5" was to place the actual sides
of the bridge on the deck/cross girders. The bridge clearance works
great for me but, most likely will be insufficient for modern
equipment.
The bridge can be seen on the Connecticut S Gaugers web site in
the "Members Pages" Look at Art Ferguson's pages. Page 1. Photo
is the seventh one down.
Good luck and have fun with your bridge!
