I think the Walther's bridge that Rieter is referring to he saw on
 my layout. I have two bridges. One was built at the actual kit
 length of 15" but, offset for a slight curve and the other built from
 two kits to fill a 22" span. The stringers that support the track
 were staggered to get length and make the structure more rigid.
 The big change to increase the clearance from 3" above rail top,
 I use code 100 rail by the way, to 3.5" was to place the actual sides
 of the bridge on the deck/cross girders. The bridge clearance works
 great for me but, most likely will be insufficient for modern 
 equipment.
 The bridge can be seen on the Connecticut S Gaugers web site in
