I had some noticeable progress today.

This is my solution for fitting a turnout in a tight spot. In the end I did
not trim the turnout at all. It is hanging over the end of the section
slightly but it would have been a LOT more work to fit that joint with
bridge rails of some sort. I also replaced the rails in front of the new
turnout heading towards the SHS track. It made no sense to make new short
bridge rails when I could just replace the 7 or so inches at once. It also
straightened out a small wiggle in that area. You can somewhat notice the
new track heading out next to the enginehouse. It is just resting in place
for now.

This think took an obscene amount of time today. It is the first new S
turnout I put in by myself in about 20 years. Hopefully when I get to the
brand new areas it will go faster than having to "excavate old scenery".
Ironically I wanted to keep this section and refurbish it because it was
sceniced. But I am picking at it day by day. A major touch up or redo will
be in order anyway..
