Thanks, Butch; I really like the way you and Andre are working those O gaugers over. I noticed one of the ones nibbling at the bait was from Bloomington, IL. The hobby shop over there tried to handle S, but couldn't generate enough interest. to keep it going. When I was there a year ago, he had two S scale steamers (a 2-8-2 and a 4-6-2) that he was trying to unload.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and he still has an S scale display loop in the shop. Maybe that poster from Bloomington would like to go over there and switch out those gallstone lump hi-rail couplers on that train to either SHS or Walther's Kadee clones to improve the appearance and show the hobby shop owner and other visitors just what is possible with S. As far as my photo, I believe that section of yard is about 16 feet long and approximately 2 feet wide. I'll measure it later and get some exact dimensions. As far as what is going on in the photo, the daily mail train is preparing to leave, and the daily 2nd Class freight train is waiting to follow. The yard engine is taking a break on the Pass after making up the two trains. The engines in the background are in the Engine Yard awaiting the call to duty. From the looks of things, that shouldn't be too long, since a solid block reefer train is in the yard waiting its turn, too. I'll be the first to admit that the detailing of the layout is not up to the discriminating standards of the better modelers, but you right about the working railroad part. The whole layout imparts that feeling during operations. If you ever get into this "Nek of th' Woods", stop in. I'll put you to work!
