And I want it duly noted that yours truly did NOT participate in, or
otherwise tromp through, the bovinian field pucky. :-)

Hmm. Are you sure Ken?

The above is at variance with the data on the Pacific Rails box, which lists
their model of it as dating to 1962. (Just noticed that little tidbit,
btw.) IF your date proves to be the correct one... reckon' I have yet
another boxcar to repaint. This time, a double door.

I thought that was earlier, too.

Wait a sec...

(Hits Google, does a quick search... )

Lo and behold... I wasted everyone's time. Found the info at:

http://www.gnrhs.org/paint_schemes.htm

Okay, according to the GN Historical Society:

Freight Cars:

Up to 1956, most freight equipiment was either brown or mineral red.
1956-1961 freight equipment was painted "Vermillion Red".
1961-1967 freight equipment was painted "Glacier Green". (Bingo.)
1967 - 1970 freight equipment was painted "Big Sky Blue".

(FWIW: Shame the GN didn't make into the area I'm modeling: The KC area. It
was a really neat and interesting railroad.)

> The green NP car Bob referred to was a 69 product...

Well, I did so good on the above GN subject, I thought I'd try again. Thus
far, no luck pinning that scheme down... but I did find photographic
evidence that lends support to your 1969 date:

Ah well... 'twas a fun diversion. Reckon I ought to pass on the green NP
stuff, but I'm good to go on the Glacier Green dbl door box I currently have
for my early-mid '60's era.

Shucks. It's almost 11 PM my time. Gotta' get up at 5:30 AM (off nights
and back on days) and go play trains... reckon' I'd better knock it off and
hit the rack.
