Found the info at: http://www.gnrhs.org/paint_schemes.htm Okay, according to the GN Historical Society: Freight Cars: Up to 1956, most freight equipiment was either brown or mineral red. 1956-1961 freight equipment was painted "Vermillion Red". 1961-1967 freight equipment was painted "Glacier Green". (Bingo.) 1967 - 1970 freight equipment was painted "Big Sky Blue". (FWIW: Shame the GN didn't make into the area I'm modeling: The KC area.
