As I recall, this was a pretty hot issue at the NASG annual meetings 3-4
years ago.

The hope was that NASG could carry a similar blanket policy which would
cover the local S-clubs, even if we (the clubs) had to kick in some
money toward it.

I don't believe anything ever came of it.

<<< A few decades ago one of our then members inquired about liability
insurance for the members for when we hosted the NASG convention. He had
read somewhere (and I think he produced the article) about a module club
that was showing at a hobby shop. Someone tripped over a leg of either
the module or outer barrier and sued everyone. If my memory was correct,
the club was very loosely formed, but all of the members were also sued.
Our member ending up quitting over this and went into zero scale. Oh
well...

The NMRA does provide a very good system of liability coverage for
members and 100% clubs. As a member of our local San Jacinto Model RR
Club, which is 100% NMRA, our annual show is covered, my open house is
covered along with 60+ layouts in the area. Our club used to have to
spend several thousand per show for a 1-2 day show. It's pretty much a
non-issue now.
