Possibly what he meant was for the various mineral forms of carbon, only 
diamond was harder than anthracite coal.  Of course, I don't quite know 
where carbon Buckeyballs or nanotubes come into the picture now, since 
they are basically man-made carbon configurations.  Oh well, that's what 
happens when you retire and lose track of what is going on.
