The brass diesels neve were offered painted, I think! Iseem to remember that 
DesPlaines at one time did have a few custom painted ones that they were 
selling  Me being the anti diesel guy that i am I never paid any attention to 
them.
 I did notice that some of the steam emgine he is selling the asking prices 
vary from $500 below original offering price of painted to about $1500 below 
the original offering price. I think I paid $2500 for my C&O T-1 and he is 
selling the unpainted for $995. 
  In the past I did a lot of custom painting. Not anymore, in 2008-2009, my 
last years of painting I did about 250 custom paint jobs. The most I ever got 
paid for a locomotive was $400 and that was for a SP  GS-4 Daylight. 
      If someone  out there is ok with paying me up to $1000 for a paint job 
only then by all means contact me first!!!!  My website, The Paint Can.net , 
will be  up and running and I'll be back in business. You might still save at 
least, $500, or even more.
