All,
I am working on the first turns for my layout. I was using the pine strip method for laying out the center line. While the results were not bad the process was annoying as the strips kept breaking. I realize that the 2 ¾ centers for S S-Mod standards were thought of by someone else for a reason. I am finding that is the bare minimum clearance even on 60 radius. The passenger side I have been working on for months is 2 3/8 set by the main lines going through the station. That is not causing havoc on my clearance! My concern is the massive overhang of the EM1 on the inside main clearing the Pullmans in the outside main. I am assuming that clearance is clearance & the direction of the EM1 should not matter? I am sure I am going to have to move some of what I have just put down though including putting a bump out of my mainline to 2 ¾ + ..
