"S Gauge the modelers gauge."
Many of us in S Gauge are blessed, as we can design, or see a building we
want in a magazine and then build it.
Many of our structures are hand crafted and as Dick Karnes wrote, there is
plenty of material available to do so in S gauge.
The biggest change I've seen over the past 40 years of modeling is the
changeover from Balsa and Basswood to Styrene.
Heck, you can even buy computer software and design any structure you wish
with it for your layout. Or/ look at what Brooks Stover does we card stock.
The most important factor needed when you build you own structures is the
detailing on and around the structure to make it look real.(Lived in)
Many times when going through model railroad magazines, I see structures
that I want to build, but just don't need them at that time. Many modelers
cut out the pages and file them for future reference. (I have a box full of
them)
I also agree with others who have said there is too much negativity on our
list.
For the most part, I've garnered many good ideas off of this list, and don't
need to know why we can't do this or that.
What we really need is more new ideas showing us how to do this or that!
I do see a lot of terrific track laying, and model train building, but all
of the images shown feature very little scenery.
"S"incerely,
Bill (Fraley)
Yes, we in Hershey, Pa. survived Hurricane Irene, mostly because we were
fortunately on the edge of the storm.
