What works in marketing to HO or O Scale might not work in S... We are in S Scale because we and S Scale IS different.
S Scalers are used to giving deposits for brass. That is what separates the lookers from the customers. Sunset is well know as an importer but has not made S in a very long time. Keeping the "I am doing it, now I am not doing it" attitude Espee project alive is not doing anyone any favors. While I am glad Sunset is considering on making S again, if the project does not gain critical support move on to something else that might. Throwing in the towel on S Scale completely because your first project in 25+ years did not go is no way to build your market base. It just means there is not enough interest in THAT locomotive. Who much does it cost to give a possible project a go? Make the push and get it done or move on. Do all projects now have to be high end steam locos? There are plenty of diesels that could be made. I am happy that the Espee guys have been getting all the attention for the past few years. I don't need the temptation of something I might want and cant afford. Some direct communication from Scott here would be nice too. Dan Navarre does not participate here but Jim is still his good will ambassador. An email every month or so goes a long way.
