This week I am able to have fun Friday night and Saturday but the real fun
started last Thursday when the Pines and Prairies guys came over to help me get
ready for an open house this evening. Ted Larson was key in getting every car
and engine running flawlessly. I think we will have a good show.
I was cleaning that night and a bit every night since. I cleaned last night
and was busy cleaning today. I got to the point where I had enough clean
surface where I could place temporary track work down to show how the next
phase of the layout would look. When I did, I found out the existing track
work that I would match up with would not make for a good looking industrial
area, crazy geometry, What could I do? Cleaning was put on hold and I tore
out 4 number 5 old pullman turnouts. They were not at the correct angle, they
suffered from the corrosion issue many of the older turnout kits had and
frankly they don't work as well as a turnout built with Fast Track jigs. 50
minutes and they were gone and I had another mess. 10 minutes with the vacuum
and I am back where I started. Right now I need to leave to go pick up the
next batch of operators for Dave Hamilton's layout. We are hosting Minn-Rail,
we have 90 operators in town from all over the country and even one from
Austriallia. When I get these guys delivered, I am coming back to resume
cleaning. I will not be distracted............
