That is puzzling, as the scans of what I had assumed was a SuperScale Alco 
listed on ebay a week or two ago certainly looked like a set of lead castings 
(and
the detail was less well-defined than the plastic and zamac of the Miller) 
rather than copper.
Both of my Miller Alcos have the Beveridge/Cascade drive, so I have no idea how 
to fix an original Miller.  I'd start thinking about a North Yard replacement 
drive
or perhaps kitbashing something from HO.  The new "Stanton" drive from NWSL 
might offer possibilities.
