Ben...AM's dual motored PAs run very nicely on the NYC. The shafts of both
motors are mechanically 'connected' via a U-joint. Other locos, such as RRM's
brass E-8, have two small motors which are NOT connected to each other. Those
locos run very nicely also. I tend to think it is the quality of the motor
that is more important than whether they are mechanically 'connected' to each
