Comparing the Bachmann On30 Vulcan solid bearing trucks under their EBT
hoppers with S scale drawings of the Newfoundland caboose, it became
apparent that they were very close in size and wheel spacing. I don't
recall if the wheels were oversized or not but they certainly weren't
undersized like HO wheels. A gentleman who was gauging interest on this
list for a urethane kit for ore cars used on the Newfoundland railroad
posted a while back. IMO those cars will be perfect candidates for the
Bachmann trucks. Bachmann sells them separately in the neighborhood of $16
a pair, which means they probably can be bought from Micro Mart for somewhat
less. Also those trucks will work under AM 40' box cars and will make
modeling the Newfoundland CN standard gauge to narrow gauge operations much
easier to do.
