I agree, unlike some of the round cement containers which could be unloaded 
from within the car, these were lifted out and emptied while hanging from a 
crane.

I suspect the position of the containers in the car may indicate that they are 
carrying relatively heavy cargo - fire brick, or maybe chemicals for a foundry. 
Thus they are positioned symmetrically over the truck bolsters and towards the 
ends of the car for support.
