Why, Ed... you silly goose... don't you yet know?  Rules mean nothing,
especially around... ... OOPS, I forgot... I'm not supposed to make snide
comments . (even when I'm right)

Subject: {S-Scale List} Radical Idea

Perhaps it would make sense to abandon this mis-named S-scale list and merge
everyone into the S-trains list for even more messages with pure AF content.
Just thinking...Ed L.

This list is NOT for discussions about American Flyer and other toy trains.
American Flyer only subject threads will be given a VERY short life before
they are ended.  <snip>  For 1/64th scale toy trains, including
Gilbert/American Flyer, see the Yahoo "S-Trains" group;

MESSAGES I READ TODAY:

The American Flyer ALCo PA & PB locomotives had what at first glance
appeared to be 3-axle (6-wheel) trucks, but the center axle/wheelset was
totally missing. It was not a question of whether it was powered or not.
Tom Hawley

Except as I recall, the Flyer PA has a pickup "stud" rather than a wheel in
the
center spot.
Pieter E. Roos

I saw 3-axle tenders in stores that had the center axle
missing; including Trost Hobbies in Chicago in ~1964 which had 4 different
AF
locos in a showcase, all with the same 4-axle tender, like a Hudson,
Pacific,
K-5, and Atlantic. Did we mention the AF catalog where the GP-7 was shown
had
it equipped with PA sideframes
