My L-T containers arrived yesterday, and they look great. Nice job Bill! About
the only criticism I have is that they are pretty heavy. I was originally going
to put them into an American Models gon, which would take 16 containers, but
now I'm thinking of using a 40' gondola which would take only 12 containers,
just to save weight. I had an old Flyer gondola waiting around on the workbench
to be converted to scale, and the containers fit into it even with out having
to remove the triangular gussets inside the body. I haven't put it on a scale
yet, but once the containers were in place in the shorter gon, the car felt
like it weighed about the same as the American Models GP9 locomotive I have
pulling the train! Of course, replacing the Flyer trucks and couplers with AM
trucks and Kadees will save a little bit of weight, but this will still likely
be the heaviest car on the layout.
