A card in a major magazine might be prohibitively expensive, particularly for
the data you get

How about a similar card at major train shows, it could be an entry form or a
drawing for something of interest to non- S scalers a Paul Scoles sentry DVD
comes to mind as the type of prize that might work (in fact, NASG could look
into being a dealer for Paul's DVDs through the NASG store as. Means of
promotion).

Other than using a search engine to search for incalculable numbers of terms

is really no other quick way to determine this. The only thing we can do is
take the group (from my list of 31 known S related Yahoo groups) that has the
largest number of members and determine that there are at LEAST that many of us.

A method that MIGHT draw others out of hiding would be to have a mail-in,
pull-out type, postage-paid card distributed in one or more of the popular MRR
magazines with questions such questions as what scale or scales are the readers
in and/or most interested in? Are they familiar with and/or even passively
aware of or interested in S scale? What scale would they consider swapping to
if they had to change scales? And stuff like that... and a small plug for the
NASG web site as the end The NASG could surely afford something like this.

 Subject: {S-Scale List} S online Groups.......

I remember that list. It was quite impressive and, if I remember correctly,
was only groups of Yahoo Groups. How many other S-oriented groupings might
there be in other places besides Yahoo? Has anyone totaled up the entire
membership of all these groups and then deducted some estimate of duplicate
people who are in more than one? Just curious and too lazy to do the work --
especially if someone else has already done it. Cheers....Ed L.
